Melissa received her degree in biology from San Diego State University in 1998. She moved on to law school at the University of Michigan where she earned her law degree in 2002.

Melissa worked for a civil litigation law firm where she managed the firm’s pharmaceutical litigation department. This experience rekindled Melissa’s interest in science, motivating her to temporarily leave the practice of law in order to earn her second bachelor’s degree, this time in nursing, from Mount St. Mary’s College in Los Angeles. While in nursing school, Melissa was recognized by her faculty and peers in receiving the Professional Nurse Award.

Melissa graduated from nursing school with honors and became a Registered Nurse. She practiced in the areas of emergency medicine and women’s care, including antepartum, labor and delivery, postpartum and nursery, and served in several major medical facilities in Ventura County.

Her ongoing interest in the law prompted her to return to her law career. In 2007 she began working with Mr. Schaeffer, and then joined BOYCE SCHAEFFER LLP when it opened in 2008. She brings her unique skills, experience and medical knowledge to her representation of healthcare professionals.
